As the fog lifted and the sun shone brightly, the lads were warming up for their first away fixture of the season. The game was played in thirds and despite some tough tagging and strong running, Oakdale were unable to reply to Rhymney's opening three tries.
In the second third Brayley ran in with a great break away try straight from the kick off. Some excellant defence gave Roman the opportunity and with a sensational sidestep that Shame Williams would have been proud of he socred the second try.
Next Rhys tried to give Rhymney the runaround and with a quick pass to Gethin saw hime run almost the length of the field to make it 3-3. Game on.
Rhymeny quickly replied to make it 4-3 the Josh ran straight and scored from the half way line to tie yet again at 4-4. But again, fast play by Rhymney saw themscore again. But Tyler was able to glide around the Rhymney defence to make it 5-5 at the end of and exciting second third.
With the final third Rhymeny went 8-5 up before Ollie and Tyler reduced the deficit with some great running to make it 8-7. But the boys were up against it and Rhymney ran in another two tried to finish on top at 10-7.
Overall, a fantastic game which the boys should be proud of which was capped with a man of the match display from Tyler.
