Oakdale carried on their good run of form against a good New Tredegar side. With very wet conditions, the boys did very well with handling skills and were very determined on a cold and wet morning, who were guided by their coach Lee who has just finished his WRI Level 1 coaching badge. (We hope the WRU dont come calling anytime soon.) Congrats!
During the game, Oakdale were rewarded with some excellant tries by Gethin, Jacob (2), Ruben (2), Rhys & Brayley. (We think the other scorer was Charlie but the pad was soaking and couldnt read the watermark on the page). Sam our Oakdale correspondant will be back next week... hopefully!
Oakdale were always on the front foot and were always looking for opportunities to pounce on any loose ball. With good support coming from the sidelines the boys were inspired and had good solid defence with Joseph, Charlie and Brayley getting some good tags in. With Tyler and Ruben on the wings, New Tredegar found it hard to break through Oakdale's defence and were it not for some last ditch tagging the outcome might have been a little closer.
Excellent performance and enthusiasm from both teams in tricky conditions.
Try of the day - Jacob had an outstanding try where he weaved through 5/6 players to score in the corner Man of the Week - Rhys Gammage. Had an excellant try to cap off an excellant performance.
Final Score: New Tredegar 5 v Oakdale 8
