The under 8's played host to two visiting sides in Caerphilly and Whiteheads from Bassaleg in Newport.

Despite the wet conditions to start the day off the boys turned up in great spirits eager to play, and as they boys were ready to kick off the sun came out hopefully this was going to be a good omen.

However, Caerphilly had not read the script with Oakdale nursing a hangovers from to much sugar from their Haribo's on Saturday night Caerphilly were the first to cross the try line.

It was not long before Oakdale responded with Ollie Penny evading the Caerphilly defence and only a try saving tackle prevented him from scoring, but Joe Lewis was on his shoulder and a lovely pop pass saw him go over in the corner.

With the first half coming to a close, teh sides were evenly matched, but a lapse in concentration saw Caerphilly score just before the break.

With the score 2-1, Caerphilly dropped the ball in the Oakdale half, William Lewis pounced on the ball,with acres of space in in front him he put his head back and raced for the line scoring in the corner.

Caerphilly who were a well organised team responded with two tries.

Oakdale were far from done and showed great determination Jacob James was given the ball in the middle and showed some lovely footwork before passing to Ollie Penny who got one back.

Before everyone could catch their breath back Caerphilly scored again.

Oakdale were keen to get the game underway and a quick kick off and a pass to Tyler Symmons  race up the left wing and score in the corner.

Sadly that was the last try for Oakdale and Caerphilly hit back with two more tries, Oakdale can take great heart from this performance despite the loss as they were making a big effort to put some passes together.
